My name is Dana McKinney. I'm from New Orleans but now live on the Northshore of Lake Ponchartrain in Louisiana. I've been married for almost 5 year
s and have 1 beautiful daughter. I'm a Speech Language Pathologist who recently became interested in cake decorating. In August of 2008 my daughter turned 1 and I wanted to make her first birthday special. Her name is Quinlan Kelly. I wanted to incorporate her wonderfully unique name into her birthday celebration so, I decided that her cake should be in the shape of a 'Q'. At that time I had had no training in the area of cake decorating, but I had been watching LOTS of cake decorating shows. I figured why not...I'd give it a shot. Well, I did it. Her cake was as cute as can be and a new passion had been discovered. A few months, and cakes, later Baby Cakes came to be.

Trecy is also from New Orleans and after a stint in Tennessee as a teenager she moved back to Louisiana and migrated to the Northshore also. She and I have been friends for almost 10 years. Trecy is has been married for 7 years and has two sweet boys. She's a Dental Assistant, but like me, would rather be baking.
